How I Like My Cacao…

I have loved experimenting over the years with different herbs, adaptogens, mushrooms and plants within my ceremonial cacao elixirs. Using them with specific intentions of exploring the synergy between the plants and how they make me feel, how they taste, smell and all the mini and macro ways in which they affect my system.

Cacao on its own is a powerhouse of incredible vitamins, minerals, compounds and ways in which it works within the body that supports so many aspects of our health. It is a perfect superfood to consume on its own.

Cacao + Rose / This is one of my most favourite combinations ever. I often blend this with cardamon, cinnamon and ginger. Rose is also a heart medicine, she facilitates softness and fierceness, a true wild woman of plants. I feel that the spice blend supports the energy of this wild spirit and gives the taste a beautiful rose chai taste. It feels like a playful, creative blend.

Cacao + Reishi / Reishi is an adapotgenic medicinal mushroom. Known as the mushroom of immortality, it is a superfood. Supporting the immune system, it is anti inflammatory and reduces stress within the mind and body. Combined with cacao I find the blend very grounding, both taste wise and energetically.

My favourite Reishi brand is Dirtea.

Cacao + Dirty Rose Chai / Another one similar to the first, however with the addition of Anima Mundi Collagen Booster powder which is packed with incredible healing herbs, including Lucuma, Nettle, Calendula, Horsetail, He Sho Wei and many others. Cacao + Reishi Ashwaghanda / A beautiful blend for nervous system restoration. I like to make this in the evenings, mainly on days where I feel I need some extra support in winding down. I use a small portion of cacao for this one (no more than 10g, but ideally 5g), then a teaspoon of reishi and ashwaghanda power. You might want to use a little sweetner (honey or maple) for this one too.
